1959 Triumph TR3A in Powder Blue
The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 and was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm.The four speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to be so fitted. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 and subsequent TR3A's became known for their superior braking ability making it an autocross favourite. In 1957, the TR3 was replaced by an updated version, the TR3A, which included new wide front grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot handle and came with a full tool kit as standard, although the TR3A's still retained the 1991cc engine.
Attractively presented in Powder Blue with black leather interior, hood and side screens. Imported in 2016 this quintessential British classic was converted to RHD and had a chassis-up, bare metal restoration including new floor pans and sills etc. The engine has been re-bored (now 2200cc), new big end and main bearings, fully rebuilt. New brakes including pistons and reservoirs, clutch etc. Back axle and O/D box were sound. Professionally refinished in factory Powder Blue . The car has a lovely interior with new carpets, new hood and side screens. A shaped roll bar is also supplied but easily removed. Comes with a history folder showing £27000 invested in recent years to get this car to the beautiful standard it is at now. Comes with a V5, heritage cert and photos of the restoration.
