Introduced in 1959, the MKII has long been Jaguar's best-loved sports saloon. Its combination
of svelte good looks, strong performance and gentlemen's club interior has successfully
charmed every passing generation. Based around a more sophisticated version of its MKI
predecessor's monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent coil-and-wishbone front
suspension, a Panhard-rod located 'live' rear axle and four-wheel disc brakes, the newcomer
was powered by a choice of race-bred 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre XK DOHC straight-six
engines. Although, slower on paper than their range-topping 3.8 litre siblings, the 3.4 litre cars
nonetheless boasted some 210bhp and 216lbft of torque, outputs sufficient to ensure a circa
120mph top speed and spirited acceleration (especially when fitted with the desirable fourspeed
manual plus overdrive gearbox). Previously the subject of an extensive, 'ground up'
restoration, this handsome MKII is offered for sale with numerous bills and invoices
chronicling its refurbishment and is still in super condition today. The door shuts and gaps
are some of the best we have seen and the paintwork has a tremendous lustre. The private
registration number stays with the car and is transferable. During the past 12 moths over
£2200 has been spent keeping this car in the lovely condition you see today. The Jaguar is
fitted with Coombs spats which really set the car off along with its painted wire wheels.
Power steering is also fitted which makes this car a pleasure to drive. On test drive the car
performed well and easily kept up with modern traffic, the engine pulls well with good oil
pressure. The Jaguar MK II is a very popular classic with many clubs and a huge parts
