1961 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite. Green with Red Leather upholstery, brand new black hood and a black tonneau cover. An original right hand drive `home market' car that was extensively restored and upgraded by engineer Clark Dawson using a fresh corrosion-free body shell, It is something of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Coventry-Climax-inspired, its jewel-like power plant develops circa 100bhp @ 7,500rpm thanks to an enlarged Rootes B1 alloy block (998cc), big valve Imp cylinder head, R17 camshaft, balanced flywheel/clutch, Power Max pistons and twin Weber 40 DCOE carburettors as fitted to a 1960s Lotus Elite. A superb installation that retains the original engine mountings and BMC gearbox, it nevertheless endows the Little Healey with approximately 155bhp/ton and improved weight distribution. Calmed via uprated disc/drum brakes and revised suspension, this stunning Frogeye was the subject of a five-page article in MG Enthusiast magazine (April 2012) and is the best Frogeye we have had the fortune to own. The car is in stunning overall condition with every part either renewed or rebuilt during the restoration process, this consists of new carpets, seats and door trim as well as a brand new roof frame with a new hood and tonneau. The car sounds superb revving freely through a stainless Scorpion exhaust giving a lovely note. The Austin is a real thrill to drive and will put a huge smile on your face. An ideal addition for any collection or purely for fun drives this car is ready to show. The Healey also comes with a lovely age related registration number. A fresh MOT will be applied before sale.
