AUSTIN SEVEN

1929 Austin Seven Chummy in Maroon with black interior and black hood. The Austin Seven was produced from 1922 to 1939 and proved to be one of the most popular cars built in Britain during the 1920's. Two thousand cars were made in the first year of production and within a few years the "big car in miniature" had wiped out the cycle car industry and transformed the fortunes of Austin. By 1939 when production finally ended, 290,000 cars and vans had been made.
This charming Austin Chummy had a full restoration between 1999-2002. Mr Franciscus Akkermans of Holland acquired the car and commissioned Brian Haynes of Bristol to deal with the restoration of the vehicle all of which is recorded with letters to Mr Akkermans along with all the invoices and a few photos. The car was then upon on completion sold in 2005 to a Mr Brian Reeves who sold the car back to Mr Akkermans in 2008. In 2008 the car had an MOT showing 4252 miles on the clock with the car now still only showing 6552, being used sparingly and dry stored when not in use.
Fully restored this charming Austin is showing the restoration is standing the test of time, no expense was spared on the restoration. Comes with its buff logbook showing the car is still on it’s original number plate. The hood is in fantastic condition for driving in inclement conditions although it is best to enjoy this car on a nice sunny day. Upon test drive this charming Austin drove just as she should. Her engine is spritely with a smooth gearbox she brakes and handles well especially as she’s 92 years old, great fun for the coming summer months with hopefully some car shows to visit.
