1961 Austin A55 Half-Ton Van. Burgundy Red with Grey bench seat. Half-ton commercial
models based on the A55 were introduced in 1957. The van was released in February and was
followed in May by pick-up, chassis and cab and chassis models Contemporary sales
literature used the term "Austin ½ ton van and pick-up". .This A55 is a very presentable usable
van, with a very good tidy load area. The whole concept of purchasing a light commercial for
private classic motoring combined with its advertising potential is one we have enjoyed for
many years and proved to be an enormous success. Without doubt the most economical
and successful form of advertising known to man! On test drive the van performed very well
